Panagro: The World's Largest Integrated Meat-Milk Plant in a Single Campu


With a desire to evaluate the animal and herbal production of the farmers in Konya region, Konya Şeker has established the Integrated Meat-Milk Plant, which has the largest production capacity of the world in a single campus. The production of milk and dairy products started in the second half of 2013 while the production of meat and meat products started in the first month of 2014 in Panagro Integrated Meat-Milk Plant.

The plant is established on a closed area of ​​85,978 thousand square meters on a total open area of ​​343,143 thousand square meters and it uses the latest technology.
 
Panagro Integrated Meat-Milk Plant applies natural and healthy production techniques under hygienic conditions by using the cutting-edge technology. Panagro Integrated Meat-Milk Plant aims to play an important role in the development of animal husbandry in the region and country with its supply chain and it plans to increase the welfare of the producers with value-added production. The plant currently has 1.200 tons of raw milk capacity. However, it has a potential to process a total of 1.650 stock per day (450 cattle and 1200 sheep and goat) and 2.000 tons of raw milk when it reaches its full capacity by using its reserve areas in the future. Through its milk production and livestock breeding, the plant will support 50,000 farmers and their families from animal husbandry industry.

This Halal Certificated plant brought “the certified milk production” as an innovation to the milk production industry together with its other innovations. Panagro obtains the raw milk from its certified manufacturers who are trained on-site by Panagro’s technical staff and University faculty members. All these processes are done within the framework of a program to increase the quality of milk. By doing so, Panagro sustains its hygienic and healthy product approach from the first stage of production.
Panagro Plant, which is differentiated in the sector with this supply model called “Torku Reliable Food Chain from the crop field to the table”, uses real fruits in the milking group in order to provide healthy nutrition for children as well as long-lasting milk. Not using glucose syrup and artificial colors in fruity and cocoa milk products as in snacks and producing sugar-containing products with the actual beet sugar, Torku, uses micro-filtration technology, which is a new technology in Turkey, in daily pasteurized milk products. The microorganisms that are produced with this technology are physically cleaned from the milk with microfiltrators, pasteurized at low temperature and packaged in alar ultra clean micro environments by maintaining their nutritional value and flavor. Also it preserves the first day freshness for a longer period compared to pasteurized milk that is produced by the pasteurization process at high temperature.

Long-lasting drinking milk uses direct UHT method to preserve the taste of milk, and packaging is provided by containing the milks natural taste and minimum nutrient loss. Ergonomic, easy-to-hold boxes where the lids are able to open and close without any strain prevents the milk from splattering around or leave any milk in the package while it is being emptied.

Homogenized and creamy yogurt, ayran, different types of cheese like white cheese, cottage cheese and labneh, powder products, flavored milk, milk with coffee and butter are also produced in Panagro Milk and Dairy Products Facility without compromising any quality, health and hygiene standards for the consumers. The Facility; while producing cheese, owns a fully automated production technology which is the first in Turkey and located only in a few businesses in the world. In this system related to the production of white cheese; all the parameters such as time and temperature are defined and all processes are carried out untouched and they are packaged with robot in the final stage.

Yoghurts are produced untouched by human hands with the addition of yoghurt bacteria which is also known as yoghurt yeast among people and with evaporation of the milk to the desired dry matter. No additives, preservatives, or milk powder are used during the production of yoghurt.
 
Labne and Krempare are extremely tasty and fresh cheese produced by being fermented with the culture of high fat cream.

The Panagro Meat Integrated Plant is also certified as a halal and has an ultramodern infrastructure and state-of-the-art technology. The air flow in slaughter house which is fed with air filtered according to European standards is carried out from the clean area to the more polluted area. Therefore, the carcass surface does not come into contact with polluted air after peeling the skin. With the application of vacuum steam sterilization, 100 ° C steam is given to the surface for a few seconds and at the same time the surface is cleaned with vacuum. In this way, both carcass surface impurities are removed and bacteria are prevented from living. After cutting, carcasses are subjected to rapid cooling in pre-cooling units. The aim of this method is to form a film layer by rapidly evaporating the moisture on the carcass surface and to prevent the development of microorganisms. In this way, it is possible to produce qualified and high quality fresh meat that is ready for sale and can be used in production.
 
The meat is taken into processing units and processed at every stage by using advanced technology and applying maximum hygiene rules and each product that is released to the market gets through metal detectors. Under the brand name Torku, Panagro aims to differentiate its newly released products from its competitors. It tries to develop products that are not in the market and seeks to catch up with the differences with the innovative approach in products that are on the market. It is one of the most basic approaches of Panagro to keep consumer demands and expectations in the focus of the work and to pay attention to consumer health in the ongoing R&D studies.

Although it is the newest brand in the market, Torku rapidly growing and expanding its product range ranks in the market with its delicatessen products such as sausage, salami, hot dog, beef ham, beef bacon, roasted meat under the category of 100% processed beef products as well as cooked, fresh and frozen hamburger, meatballs and doner. Torku adding a special sausage named Anadolu Lezzeti, which is flavored with different types of spices in the sausage group, to its product range will continue to offer healthy and natural products without compromising on quality and taste.

One of the most important factors in terms of operational efficiency in Meat Integrated Plants is that all groups of product can be produced. As is known, some of the products included in the process of integrated production are salami and hot dog. When these products are presented to the consumer, they are becoming manufactured products through being colored and carmine is often used in the coloring of the product. Panagro has avoided production with the carmine whose halalism is controversial and which can confuse customers’ minds in terms of consumption. Panagro have decided not to produce hot dog and salami if there is not any other solution. In the meantime, R& D unit has started to work on alternative vegetable-based, natural colorants that will take consumers' concerns away and not adversely affect consumer health. The studies of R & D unit was successful and the result was a mixture obtained from the plants in production in order to ensure the presentation of the products to the market in a way that will not differ in color and taste with the other hot dogs and salami in the market. After reaching the solution with vegetable origin, Panagro started to produce hot dog and sausages without carmine under the brand Torku and introduced the range of product in this group to the market. Panagro Meat Plant, which is established with ultra-modern and state-of-the-art equipment, manufactures carcass meat, front and back shin, fillet steak, rib steak, loin, sausage, salami, hot dog, beef bacon, roasted meat, beef ham and whole piece of meat and they are offered in fresh and frozen conditions to retail consumption points.
 
As it cares its products to be as delicious as the naturalness and because it produces with the raw materials selected in this framework, this plant works with the distinguished and consumer-preferred enterprises in fresh and frozen meat varieties.

Our facilities where the rules of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) are applied have the certificates of National and International Food Safety Management Systems such as BRC and ISO 22000 and ISO 9001 Quality Management System, TSE Halal Products. Furthermore, national and international regulations are followed up-to-date and legal requirements are not compromised. In addition to these, it is confirmed that “different types of meat are not used and non-GMO products are produced” in the analysis of product by working with Türkak accredited GMO laboratory which is serving within the scope of AB Holding.

Within the studies carried out in our R&D, the production of “original product” is targeted and innovative approach with the concept of differentiation is reflected. The capabilities of our machine are also designed to produce products that reveal the innovative aspect of the Torku brand. There is a strong R&D infrastructure behind the scene of “innovation”. Within this scope, Panagro R&D Center approved by the ministry maintains its studies. In addition, projects with added-value are carried out in cooperation with Konya Food and Agriculture University.
